P1440 Launches Pro Tour in Pompano

Platform 1440, an organization best known for hosting junior beach volleyball tournaments across the country, is taking a major step into the professional scene this summer with the launch of the Futures Tour Pro, a new two-stop series designed to help rising athletes transition into the professional ranks. The tournaments will take place June 6-7 in Pompano Beach and June 20-21 in Santa Monica, two locations with deep roots in beach volleyball culture.

The Futures Tour Pro will feature both men’s and women’s divisions with a combined $40,000 prize purse, including $20,000 awarded at each stop. According to p1440, the tour is intended to create a “bridge” between elite amateur competition and the professional game by giving athletes more exposure, higher-level matches, and opportunities to continue advancing in the sport.

What makes the announcement especially notable is that p1440 has primarily been associated with junior volleyball events, particularly girls 18U tournaments and national championships. The organization’s Futures Tour has become one of the more recognizable youth beach volleyball circuits in the country, regularly hosting events in Florida, California, Alabama, Texas, Arizona, and Washington. The addition of professional tournaments represents a relatively new direction for the organization and could help expand opportunities for athletes looking to continue their careers after the junior level.

The tournaments will use a power pool format that guarantees teams multiple matches throughout the weekend. Day one will include four guaranteed matches, while day two guarantees at least two matches per team before single-elimination playoffs begin. All matches will be played in a best-of-three format. Prize payouts will extend through ninth place in each division, and overall series winners will also receive travel stipends to support future competition.

The two host sites also add significance to the series. Pompano Beach has become one of Florida’s growing beach volleyball hubs through p1440 national events, while Santa Monica remains one of the sport’s most historic locations and is often considered one of the birthplaces of modern beach volleyball.

With professional beach volleyball opportunities in the United States continuing to evolve, the Futures Tour Pro could become an important pathway for younger athletes hoping to break into the next level of competition while also bringing additional attention to the sport outside of the traditional AVP circuit.
