Transfer Update: ASU’s Ava Williamson Becomes a Bruin

On May 23rd, Arizona State Sophomore Ava Williamson posted on her Instagram that she will be continuing her college beach volleyball career at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Williamson had a record of 24-12 this past season with the Sun Devils at multiple different positions. Williamson played the bulk of the season at the first position with partner Daniella Kensinger while playing the second and third positions towards the end of the year with partners Olivia McElroy and Ava Kirunchyk. Some of her best wins include beating TCU’s 2 pair, GCU’s 1 pair and Hawaii’s 1 pair.

As a 5’11” blocker, Williamson will be a great addition to an already good UCLA team. The Bruins went 32-7 this past season with it ending in the semifinals of the National Championship tournament as they lost to the fourth Seeded LMU Lions 3-2. Williamson has a TruVolley Rating (TVR) of 9.00 and would have had the seventh highest TVR on the UCLA team last season.
