USC Captain Madison White transfers to Texas

Team captain Madison “Maddy” White helped lead the University of Southern California to another National Championship tournament as she played at the 1 position for the entire 2025 season. In her fourth and final year with the Trojans White had a record of 23-14 with notable wins against LMU, TCU, Stanford and FSU. On May 19th, White posted on her Instagram that she will be transferring to the University of Texas and will play beach volleyball under head coach Stein Metzger. Although Texas is a relatively new program, the Longhorns had a very successful 2025 season making it to the National Championship tournament being seeded 7th. The Longhorns ultimately lost in the second round to TCU who would go on to win the title.

USC finished with a solid record but fell short of expectations — which is not saying much, as they have been the gold standard since the college sport began in 2010. The Trojans finished as runners-up in the inaugural MPSF Championship losing to Stanford 3-2.

Maddy White’s transfer from USC to the University of Texas marks a significant move in collegiate beach volleyball. After an above average 2025 season at USC, where she earned First-Team AVCA All-American honors and competed at the No. 1 court, White brings her elite experience to a burgeoning Texas program under head coach Stein Metzger. Metzger, a former UCLA coach with multiple NCAA titles, is building a competitive team in Austin. White’s addition is poised to elevate the Longhorns’ performance and leadership as they aim to establish themselves among the nation’s top programs.
